A Christmas Prayer

I’ll see you on the other side of the holidays!  Until then:

I pray that your traveling, if you are a traveler, is blessed with peace and calm and joy, and that you arrive to your destination safely;

I pray that, if you are a host, you are able to extend the hospitality of Christ inasmuch as you possibly can;

I pray that your Christmas events, whether you are participating in them or viewing them, are infused with the love of Christ and the thrill of His arrival here on earth and the redemptive work to follow;

I pray that your time spent with family or friends is an opportunity to minister to them in whatever ways necessary, and that doing so blesses you as much as it blesses them;

I pray that your gifts are given and received in an attitude of great gratitude and a recognition that we should value most profoundly what we cannot see or hold;

I pray that, if you are grieving or hurting or going through a time of struggle, the Comforter gives you the solace that you need through this difficult time.

May your Christmas, however and with whomever it is spent, be rich with moments where you are able to reflect on the great joy of this holiday:

That He is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, and that He came here to redeem us.

Merry Christmas!
