May you remember that “the new year” is nothing more than an arbitrary date.
May you remember that every day, every hour, every minute we are renewed and restored by the One who came to make all things new. May you remember that the next breath, not the next year, is the second chance, and the third chance, and the fourth, and all the chances you will ever need, given in unlimited grace.
May you leave your shame and your guilt behind with 2015, secure in the knowledge that you are deeply loved, and deeply free.
May your heart be broken for those you haven’t loved.
May your heart be broken for those you haven’t loved enough.
May your heart then be mended with the knowledge that today is a new day to love all who cross your path as sacrificially, as unreservedly, and as joyfully as God has loved you.
May you be unable to contain your joy.
May you remain faithful when the trial comes.
And most of all, this 2016, may your hunger and thirst for God be what drives you. May it remain unsatisfied, so you will keep seeking, keep longing, keep pushing ahead.
May you never have enough of God, and may your desire for more be your glory.
Blessings and hope and all peace to all of you.
Behold – He is making all things new.
Happy New Year!
“May you never have enough of God” reminds me of the old hymn:
Day by day His tender mercy,
Healing, helping, full and free,
Sweet and strong, and ah! so patient,
Brought me lower while I whispered,
Less of self, and more of Thee,
Less of self, and more of Thee.
Higher than the highest heavens,
Deeper than the deepest sea,
Lord, Thy love at last hath conquered;
Grant me now my heart’s petition,
None of self, and all of Thee,
None of self, and all of Thee.
Thank you for the inspiration today. Happy New Year!
