I’m taking a ten-day break from the blog to enjoy the summer before the school year creeps up on me. Because of that, the posting schedule will be lighter than normal. Regular blogging will resume, God willing, on Aug. 23.
In the meantime, let me recommend my ten favorite books to you. The list changes often over the years, but some are mainstays. Some I’ve reviewed; most I have not (yet). All are worth it, regardless.

- On Fairy-stories by J.R.R. Tolkien (this is not explicitly Christian, nor explicitly about Christ, and really meant for quite a narrow audience, and yet in it Tolkien provided for me something precious: a reminder that all stories link back to the Story)
- Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien (again, not explicitly Christian! But you can’t miss the pointing-back to the great Story here, there, and everywhere)
- And The Angels Were Silent by Max Lucado
- Proverbs for Kids from The Book (yes, this is a children’s book and no, I don’t care)
- Prodigal God by Timothy Keller
